The city of South El Monte hosts its National Night Out Event every year. Attendees have the opportunity to enjoy local food alongside area families and friends. Local musicians come out and perform before capping off the evening with a free movie.
This year’s National Night Out Event takes place on Thursday, August 7, beginning at 5 PM. The city will partner with local first responders, family service organizations, and governing officials to arrange meet-and-greets between community members and the people who serve them. Come and enjoy:
- Free Food
- Free Backpack Giveaway at 6 PM (while supplies last)
- Free movie showing at dusk (movie to be announced)
The event takes place at Mary Van Dyke Park, 1819 Central Ave. Children can enjoy the park’s expansive playground and sports fields throughout the course of the event. Parking is available on Central Avenue in front of the park.
Backpack Giveaways for Community Betterment
This year, local community sponsors like Omega Law Group are coming together to build backpacks full of school supplies for families in need. Families can receive backpacks full of pencils, pens, notebooks, and other supplies to lower their back-to-school costs.
The backpack giveaway begins at 6 PM and will continue so long as supplies last. Attendees can connect with event representatives at the National Night Out event to learn more about the giveaway.
